The 2025 Legislative Session Is Here

The 2025 General Legislative Session has officially begun!


On Tuesday, I took the oath of office to support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Utah. I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to represent our district.

I am looking forward to working with my colleagues during the next seven weeks to pass meaningful legislation that will benefit all Utahns. Keep a look out for my weekly newsletters, where I will update you on all the important work being done for our community.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE SOUTHERN BORDER CRISIS

The Biden administration’s inaction at the Southern border has strained our communities, public safety, and education systems. While supporting legal immigration, we must protect our communities. That’s why we’re introducing bills to hold criminals here illegally accountable, including stricter penalties for fentanyl trafficking, recruiting minors into gangs, driving without a license, and other crimes. By taking these steps, we are reinforcing our commitment to both the rule of law and the safety of all Utahns.

COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS

I have been assigned to serve on the following House Committees:

  • House Health and Human Services Committee

  • House Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Committee

  • Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environmental Quality Appropriations Subcommittee


I will keep you informed of the work being done in these committees throughout the session.

BILL SPOTLIGHT

This week, I introduced bill H.B. 275 - First Responder Volunteer Tax Credit. This bill aims to demonstrate our state’s gratitude for those who volunteer as first responders by offering them an income tax credit. I anticipate a lot of support for this bill, as we all appreciate the work that volunteers do to keep our communities safe.
